WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
Dirt can get into the tightest engines. Combustion by-products also collect in engine oil. These particles can cause scoring and premature wear of pistons and cylinders if not periodically removed from the engine during an oil change. Filings and flecks of metal can also collect in auto lubricants, such as differential fluid. Rust inhibitors in coolant, or antifreeze, weakens over time and rust can build up in the radiator. Dissolved copper can corrode antilock braking system (ABS) components. Changing automotive fluids prevents premature wear and system failures.
